  1. When I was young and foolish, I joined and actively participated in the NRA believing the hype about it being the only protector of our right to bear arms. Thanks to a patient individual, and the all to clear hypocrisy of the NRA, I have been disabused of the notion that the NRA supports gun rights in anything other than name alone.

    Check out http://www.jpfo.org/smith/smith-friends-like-nra.htm

Friends do not let friends contribute to the NRA. Do not make the same grave error that I made.

What we need are REAL supporters of the right to self defense not two faced, dishonest, self-promoting, figure head lobbyists more interested in their own paycheck and political pro-police policies than in protection of individual rights.

  2. Awww come on Storm, tell us how you really feel... :)

Interesting view, I am not a member and will probably not join much to the chagrin of my Dad, he is a lifer and would love nothing more than to see me join up.

I have nothing against the NRA though. I posted this so that anyone else who reads this and wanted to join or try it out would be able to do so without charge.

Thanks for the link, I just scanned over it, will read it in more detail later, but what I scanned was eye opening at the very least.

  3. Don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate the spirit in which the post was made. I am all for self-defense, gun ownership, and frugality! Heck I became a lifer before having my eyes opened..

However out rights are far more threatened by organizations like the NRA who pretend to be acting on our behalf, than by groups like Handgun Control Incorporated, on whose behalf the NRA has promoted a great deal of legislation.

In fact it was during one of the times of great cooperation between HCI and the NRA that I was shown the hypocrisy and inherent danger of the NRA. When I confronted Wayne LaPierre on it, he spun a yarn which made the most outrageous Texas Tall Tale look like absolute truth.. The NRA initiated registration of firearms, licensing of owners, and other regulations remarkably similar to those imposed in Nazi Germany in order to disarm the populace to make them vulnerable.

The NRA is an enemy of liberty, responsibility, and moreover perhaps the greatest threat to our right to bear arms. It is the wolf in sheep's clothing, which is far more dangerous than the wolf howling somewhere up in the hills..

  4. I understand those who support the NRA. I also understand those that don't. Either way and even if you support another pro-gun group, consider this blog post from a reader over at SurvivalBlog and be smart. Don't display anything on your vehicle that can get you looked at under a different light.

  5. Michael, unfortunately you are right about this, I have thought this way for a long time, I cringe whenever I see someone with a NRA sticker on their car, only because it alerts the bad buys (and gals) that you might have a gun to steal (though it could work in your favor too), it also alerts the police that you may be carrying as well. I prefer stealth, SBD.
