Holy Cow!

I don't know who or what this LinkSwarm is, but I think I am in love... seriously, thanks Regulator, whoever you are for posting my blog on LinkSwarm. Ya'll are making me feel all warm and fuzzy, if this keeps up, I'm going to shear myself and spin some yarn out of it. :)

I was looking at my tracker this evening, normally I have, oh maybe 100 plus or minus unique hits a day, some days more, some days less... I look and I see that I have 262 hits and it isn't even 7:30 yet. I haven't had action like that since Mayberry posted my plea for help on his blog, if you have followed my blog for a while, you remember what happened.

When I checked to see where all this traffic was coming from, I saw that it was coming from LinkSwarm, I've never heard of it before, but for some reason my blog has been posted there and I am getting lots of hits from it. I have always pretty much ignored link farms, I considered it a less than way of getting traffic, I think this site, at least on the surface, looks a step up from the link farms I have seen in the past. Gotta check it out more carefully and see what they are all about.

EDIT
I have noticed on LinkSwarm some comments about my blog, namely about how can I be off grid AND have an internet connection, blog and a PayPal account. Well, to answer your questions, it is quite possible to be off grid and still have internet access, living off grid doesn't mean living in a cave, wearing skins and eating worms. I am 100% off grid, I am not hooked up to any utilities, I don't even have a power pole, or telephone pole or any other utilities on my property. I generate my own electricity, haul my water, use propane for cooking and heating water, use wood for heat, I have a WIRELESS internet connection, and yes, I have a PayPal account, how else do you think I buy things? Oh, and I'm not a guy, my hubby is though. :)

  2. Yeah SciFiChick, they just don't seem to get it, so far on the comments on that site, referring to my site, seem to be pretty childish, questions about my underwear, funny misspellings of my name and the humor that comes from that, whether or not I am Amish, it appears that this site is run by a bunch of teenage boys. I am reminded of high school... sorry if this offends anyone from that site, if you are not of that caliber then please, post an grown up comment and I'll change my tune about all of you. :)

  4. Well the idea is they weren't very impressed with your site, and why would they be since you are making this site to let your friends and family from your other home see what you're doing? Not to impress a bunch of strangers on the internet.
But now that you have all these viewers, you could try do something impressive, get thinking about your next step in living off grid.

  5. If they had looked at most of your posts (preferably ALL of them), they would have known most every answer to any question they had. From how MMB creates soilcrete, to composting, to your solar, etc. I know you haul water but has MMB considered drilling a well. With the amount of vegetation around you there has to be subsurface water! Might check with some of the local "older timers" to see how deep he would have to possibly go. You can always filter the water to make sure clean ad safe.

  6. Well, today when I checked the comments (yeah I know, I shouldn't be concerned about what "they" think of me), it would seem that I received some intelligent, grown up comments and questions. Woohoo! So I take it back, they aren't ALL teenage boys looking to poke fun. LOL

  7. I understand what you mean about others not understanding. I love most of the time off the grid in a floating cabin in British Columbia. But I guess I have been fortunate. Most people who ask questions are actually interested in what I am doing even if they don't always get it. I bumped into your blog from a post by Terria Flemming. Now that I've had my say I'll check some of your other posts and see what I can learn to help us out up the lake. - Margy
